What does that mean? It means that Leanne is not aligned or affiliated with the Liberal Party, Labor or The Greens. Leanne did not preference any political party in the Dec 2021 Sutherland Shire Council Elections and her voting record in Council reflects her status as a true Independent, assessing each issue and its impact and merits for the community.
In her role as an elected Sutherland Shire Councillor, Leanne is committed to:
Lobbying to rebuild Cronulla Community Rest Centre that was demolished by the previous Council
Saving Monro Park and our green spaces so people can enjoy our sunlit natural environments
Increasing the tree canopy and retaining healthy, well-established trees for the future
Supporting the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles in new developments
Supporting sustainable development, NOT overdevelopment
Continuing to oppose council selling off carparks and address the traffic and parking issues in Cronulla
Ensuring transparency between council and residents
Upgrading footpaths and infrastructure, particularly around our schools
A record of championing the community
Campaigned against the 2015 LEP to prevent overdevelopment
Secured the heritage listing of the last remaining Cronulla sand dune
Stopped Council selling our parkland to developers (now John McKinn park at Wanda)
Fought the previous council to retain the Cronulla Women’s Rest Centre
Protected the huge fig trees in heritage listed Monro Park and on Wilbar Avenue
