Meet Mark Christie, Shire Independent Candidate for D Ward

I am a long-term Sutherland Shire resident living with my wife and two (now adult) children in D Ward.

I’ve spent the past 31 years serving the people of NSW as a police officer before my retirement in October last year. A lifelong martial artist, I am currently a judging official on the biggest stage that this sport has, the UFC. Since my retirement from the police force I have kept busy as a part time NDIS support worker.

As a Shire Independent candidate I will work to implement smart traffic solutions, improve public transport accessibility, and advocate for pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. I will fight to protect our natural heritage, ensuring responsible development that prioritizes sustainability and affordability and advocate for an Ombudsmen. Additionally, I will champion increased recycling initiatives and promote a culture of waste reduction and management across the shire.
